Happy New Year and Happy New Beginnings

I want to thank all of our wonderful customers, many who have become friends, and the  extremely talented artists who have stuck it out with me over the last three years.  I appreciate all of you very much.  Times change and opportunities arise.  At this time I want to let everyone know that I will be closing our Lakewood location on January 1 and relocating in the spring.  I will keep everyone posted about the new locale.  Again, thank you and make this new year the best yet!

Cheers!

Go Browns!

This week, just in time for the first preseason game, it was decided that women can no longer carry purses of any type into the stadium during games. They were given plastic bags to carry their items in or had to leave everything in the car. As preposterous as this all is, women were by angry and rightly so. Who wants to carry around a clear plastic Baggie only to drop it or loose it somewhere. So, after much encouragement from a friend and since I just happen to design purses, why not make something that women may not mind carrying into the stadium. I created a small, but stylish clear cross body bag. Big enough to carry the essentials, phone, wallet, sunglasses, keys. The bag measures about 8″ high and 7″ wide and is about an inch deep. The top folds over and is secured with Velcro. The strap has a 20″ drop. This fits on the hip and leaves you hands free and will not get lost, cuz lets face it, after a few beers in the dawg pound…who knows!

I’ll take a Manhattan please…

Like it or not, fall will be here before you know it.  I’ve already been thinking about the season with new fabrics and designs.  I will be bringing back my favorite fall bag, The Manhattan, in both the purse style and the messenger or “Tall Manhattan”. I create these bags using recycled men’s suit jackets as the body of the bag, a dress shirt for the lining and a necktie for the strap.  I love the tailored design of this bag.  It is a clean, simple shape that is classic design.  Since menswear will be hot hot hot this fall, I think every fashionista needs to sport a Manhattan!

Bag Of The Week

This week’s must have bag is the Beach Bum Bag!  There is still a little bit of summer left to pick up one of these babies and take it to the beach or your next summer vacation!  Made from a beach towel, these bags are bright, fun and colorful.  Sturdy strap is strong enough to carry all your essentials.  Lining is a heavier cotton in fun coordinating prints.  Inside is a crook recycled jeans pocket.  Perfect for your phone, iPod or sunglasses.  Check them out http://www.etsy.com/shop/girlsbesttrend image

Going to the chapel…

Being a romantic at heart, I was thrilled to be able to design bridesmaid clutches for two very special brides.

The first was for my cousin, Gabriella, who was married in June.  Her colors were lime green and navy blue.  I created a flap style clutch out of taffeta with a cotton lining.  I sewed on a navy ribbon which wrapped around the bag.  A large navy blue flower with a sparkly green button gives it that last perfect touch.

The second was for my dear friend’s youngest sister, Jessica, who was married on August 3rd.  I created a clutch using a silver frame for the closure.  Her colors were fern green and eggplant.  i used a circular pattern in eggplant and a fern print cotton batik for the lining.  I received some extra bridesmaid dress fabric to create a large flower pin for the front of the clutch.20130804-183452.jpg20130804-183645.jpg

Made from bamboo placemats and lined with bright cotton linings, these bags have tropical resort written all over them. They are a great size 13″x 7″ x 4″ deep with a fun handle attached. Big enough to carry all the essentials and then some. Check out my Etsy shop Girl’s Best Trend and get your favorite!
