I was asked by a friend to do two custom bags for her and her daughter. She gave me an army bag and mail bag to create a messenger bag and her father’s military bag. I planned it out and when the design came to mind I went for it. I created a super cute messenger bag with a big front pocket, utilizing the print from the mail bag. I used the adjustable strap from the army bag and some leather of my own. I took the pockets from the army bag and sewed them inside for a cell phone, make up, whatever. It’s utilitarian, feminine and chic.
For the military bag, I was really nervous to do anything to it. I am a very sentimental person and was scared to make the first cut. I reinforced the bottom with leather and added a strap and a little peace dove wooden zipper pull. I thought it was perfect.
All of these warm temps…is it really February…have me thinking spring and summer! This coming season will be nautical and tiki! Anchors, pineapples, flamingos, palm trees, cocktail motifs and more will grace tote bags, clutches, key chains, pillows and more. I am so looking forward to the warm temps ahead! Cheers!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I whipped up some hugs and kisses “Glam” make-up bags and Be Mine heart and tassel key rings. These are actually great all year round, but the spirit of the holiday, and me being a hopeless romantic, got me in the mood to create a few fun pieces.
I love the new year. Time for changes, cleaning, organizing and thinking of things you’d like to do. I will be changing things around this year. My Facebook page and this website will strictly be all about my bags and upcoming accessories I will be adding to my line. I am working on my brand, Girl’s Best Trend, to make it a lifestyle line. Along with my handbags there will be pillows, stationery, candles, small home and cocktail accessories. Everything girly, with a definite 50’s/60’s glamour feel. There will be some kinks at first with the social media, I am not tech savvy, so bare with me! I look forward to the new changes and will keep everyone informed. I hope you all choose to stick around with me for this exciting year.
I want to thank all of our wonderful customers, many who have become friends, and the extremely talented artists who have stuck it out with me over the last three years. I appreciate all of you very much. Times change and opportunities arise. At this time I want to let everyone know that I will be closing our Lakewood location on January 1 and relocating in the spring. I will keep everyone posted about the new locale. Again, thank you and make this new year the best yet!
This week, just in time for the first preseason game, it was decided that women can no longer carry purses of any type into the stadium during games. They were given plastic bags to carry their items in or had to leave everything in the car. As preposterous as this all is, women were by angry and rightly so. Who wants to carry around a clear plastic Baggie only to drop it or loose it somewhere. So, after much encouragement from a friend and since I just happen to design purses, why not make something that women may not mind carrying into the stadium. I created a small, but stylish clear cross body bag. Big enough to carry the essentials, phone, wallet, sunglasses, keys. The bag measures about 8″ high and 7″ wide and is about an inch deep. The top folds over and is secured with Velcro. The strap has a 20″ drop. This fits on the hip and leaves you hands free and will not get lost, cuz lets face it, after a few beers in the dawg pound…who knows!
